Don't play chicken (pox)

Yep, chickenpox peaks at this time of year – just when you don’t want the kids stuck indoors. Although it doesn’t usually cause long-term problems, it’s highly infectious and may make little ones feel miserable. Plus, it can be more serious in adults who’ve never had it. If that’s you, or you want to avoid a pox-infested household in the future, check out the Boots Chickenpox Vaccination Service at boots.com/chickenpox

BBC Children in Need

Statistics suggest that there are over one million children in the UK with a diagnosable mental health condition††. Shocking stuff! So we’re excited about the new BBC Children in Need early-action programme, A Million & Me, launching in store during Mental Health Awareness Week (13-19 May). The programme brings together a number of partners, including Boots UK and the mental-health charity YoungMinds, and aims to support children aged 8-13 years old with their emotional wellbeing.

If you’re a parent or carer, you can play an important role in supporting children’s mental wellbeing; by being actively involved now, you could help prevent more serious issues later in life. Pop in store and pick up a leaflet for information on how you can help children and teenagers maintain and enjoy good mental health.
