Just as your best friend makes you feel fabulous, this season’s make-up trends are set to do the same. Wear them with your own unique take and prepare to look and feel amazing
Romantic, feminine, ethereal… whichever way you wear it, pink make-up can only mean beautiful things. On lips, follow the Dolce & Gabbana trend with a fuchsia pout. As for cheeks, copy Genny: push the status quo and take a sheer ballerina blush up to your temples, adding a whisper of the same hue everywhere else.
Hint at the trend (above left): No7 Match Made Powder Blusher in Damson Mist, Boots Exclusive £9/900 points. Make a statement (above right): New Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer in Wow Pop, £17/1,700 points.
This season, glitter† is seriously grown-up and gorgeous. For a subtle take on the style, wash it over eyelids like at Simone Rocha. To embrace it wholeheartedly, sweep over lids and sprinkle on hair like fairy dust, to get the look worn at Giambattista Valli.
Hint at the trend (above right): Collection Glam Crystals Face & Body Glitter in Gold Digger and Fallen Angel, £4.99/499 points each, on eyelids. Make a statement (above left): Barry M Glitter Rush Body Glitter in Carnival Queen, £4.99/499 points, on eyelids, and NYX Professional Makeup Glitter Brilliance Face & Body Glitter in Violet and Silver, £6/600 points each, in hair.
Whether you take inspiration from the Versace catwalk, where eyeliner was elongated and fancy, or the delicate, floating cat’s-ears look that was seen on Rochas’ models, the key to this season’s look is an inky, pigmented black for maximum impact.
Hint at the trend (above right): Rimmel London Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner Pencil in Jet Black, £2.99/299 points. Make a statement (above left): New Benefit Matte Roller Eye Liner in Black, £18.50/1,850 points.
To take the look to your nails, wear just a hint of sparkle, as seen at Anna Sui, by choosing a clear polish with glitter† suspended in it. Or to make more of an impact, opt for three coats of a polish that has a metallic colour and a confetti of sparkle, as seen at Vivienne Westwood.
Hint at the trend (above right): Barry M Glitterati Nail Paint in Socialite, £2.99/299 points (10ml). Make a statement (above left): Essie Silver Pink Glitter Nail Lacquer in 511 Congrats, £7.99/799 points (13.5ml).
If you love a red lip, then switch it up to this season’s favourite texture: velvet. Feeling confident? Choose bold and bright, as seen at Koche, where a stunning poppy red ruled the catwalk. Want a muted look? Turn to a rich burgundy hue, à la Chloé.
Hint at the trend (left): Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Liquid Lipstick in Grand Cru, £8.49/849 points. Make a statement (right): New Clarins Joli Rouge Velvet Lipstick in Red Orange, £22/2,200 points.
