Billed as ‘Three Days Of Peace And Music’, the first Woodstock festival attracts around half a million people. Involving (mainly) flared trousers and flowers in hair, the Woodstock look becomes synonymous with the ’60s hippy movement, man.

Long before musical icons such as Beyoncé take to the stage, Glastonbury’s humble beginnings see 1,500 fans pay £1 entry to the ‘Pilton Pop Folk & Blues festival’ – free milk included!

It’s the Britpop invasion – T In The Park opens in ’94 with headliners Oasis and Blur, while Jarvis Cocker (above) inspires the first V Festival in ’96. Crop-tops, chokers and, erm, brown lip liner are de rigueur.

Festi-fashion is officially a thing, thanks to Kate Moss. Her hot-pants-and-wellies combo at Glasto in 2005 is later voted the best festival fashion moment of all time.
