Take it off

We show you how to remove all that festive make-up – fast!

The key to removing all traces of foundation? Get your hair off your face and out of the way. If you don’t, it’s likely that your cleansing routine will stop a couple of inches short of your hairline. Try a Boots Headband in White*, £3/300 points, to prevent residue from collecting there and ultimately leading to clogged pores.

We love a kiss-proof pout, but this texture can be difficult to get off. Rather than scrubbing it away with a face wipe, use YSL Top Secrets Expert Makeup Remover For Eyes & Lips*, £23/2,300 points (125ml). Massage over lips, then remove with a warm flannel. It will melt away long-wearing colour and leave your pout soft and nourished. Win-win!

If you wear waterproof formulas or use product on your waterline, listen up! Don’t neglect eyelid edges, where product can build up and cause irritation. We love Eau Thermale Avène Intense Eye Make-Up Remover, £11.50/1,150 points (125ml), for even the most sensitive eyes. Gently massage soaked cotton pads over your peepers for 15 seconds.

Notice tell-tale make-up smudges on your towel, post-cleanse? It’s time to start double-cleansing: the first round to remove make-up, and the second to refresh skin. Start with a cleansing balm or micellar water to break down products, then wash with ultra-gentle No7 Radiant Results Nourishing Cleansing Lotion, £8/800 points (200ml).

Red, sensitive skin? When drying your face, don’t rub with a towel, but pat it dry instead.

First, step away from the wipes: they only spread the glitter around. If the glitter’s dry, rub a piece of Scotch tape between your fingers first to remove some of the tackiness, then gently dab it onto any stubborn bits on your arms, legs or chest to lift away the glitter. Remove any residue with an oil-based cleanser to emulsify the glue and leave skin super-soft.

The perfect finish

Nothing nails a look like a gorgeously glossy mani. But gels can be tricky to remove. Now, when you want to change your shade, choose SensatioNail PeelOff StripGel Base Coat, £15 (10.4ml), and your old gels will simply peel off! It’s included in the SensatioNail PeelOff StripGel Starter Kit, £59.99, allowing you to create your own first-class mani at home.
