re you a glitzy party queen who can’t say no to sequins? Do you tend to feel more comfortable in your work outfit than a chic LBD? Or does a daring fake-fur jacket more suit your sassy style?

‘The clothes you wear should influence your make-up and how you style your hair,’ says make-up artist Jaimee Thomas, who created these looks. ‘Your fashion choices are a reflection of your personality, and the same applies to your beauty style.’ But if you’re planning to go to a party wearing ‘out-there’ clothes, don’t assume that you should top it off with just-as-daring make-up and tresses. ‘It’s not always a case of being matchy-matchy with your fashion and beauty look,’ Jamiee adds. ‘You should opt for ideas to complement your wardrobe, not compete with it.’

The sassy diva

Bold and adventurous, your look craves a quirky touch. Whether you’re accessorising with a fake-fur jacket or some striking jewellery, you’re all about stepping out of your comfort zone. ‘An ombre lip is a perfect way of making an eye-catching beauty statement to match your daring fashion choices,’ says Jaimee. ‘Trace a berry liner over your upper and lower lip lines and blend with a brush. Next, pat a bright pink lipstick onto the centre of your pout with your finger, until it meets the darker shade. To create the ombre effect, blend the two colours together with a lip brush and set with translucent powder to prevent smudging.’ Keep the rest of your make-up simple, with just a shimmery neutral eyeshadow and a sweep of black mascara on top lashes only.

Wear it off your face to keep the focus on the make-up. ‘Scoop locks into a low pony with your fingers and use a spray wax to add texture,’ says hairstylist Liam Curran.

The smart sophisticate

Small details really matter. A stylish blazer matched with a pussy-bow blouse, or an effortless lace top worn with smart trousers – your chic, understated outfit choices aren’t made for demanding attention. ‘Your make-up needs to be subtle, with a twist,’ says Jaimee. ‘Low-key colours with a shot of texture, such as metallic or glitter, will add standout to your look.’ Smudge a creamy gold shadow on lids and press a matching metallic shadow over the top, building up the intensity at the inner corners. A nude lipstick with a slight shimmer, plus a taupe blush brushed on the hollows of your cheeks, will give just enough festive pop to your pared-back style.

Go for low-key styling. ‘Spritz a texturising spray over just-washed hair and blast dry,’ says Liam. ‘Tong large sections from mid-lengths to ends and brush out the waves for an undone look.’

The sparkle queen

It’s all about adding a sprinkling of shimmer to your festive outfit. Whether it’s a stunning sequinned top or a glitzy LBD, as long as it sparkles, it goes. But just because you’re wearing something glittery doesn’t mean you should cover your face in it, too. ‘A matte smoky eye will turn on the glamour, but won’t compete with your outfit,’ says Jaimee. ‘Apply a dark eyeshadow to your eye sockets and underneath lower lashes. Blend the colour over lids with an eyeshadow brush so it stretches just above the socket lines. Run a cotton bud underneath the lower lash lines to clean up any smudges and keep it graphic. Pair with nude lipstick and sheer foundation to ensure the look is super-modern.’

Brushed-out waves will dial up the glitz. ‘Clamp a triple-barrel tong from roots to ends and brush out to create a frizzy finish,’ advises Liam. Set with hairspray.
