    Shimmer skin

‘Using glitter instead of a highlighter is a gorgeous twist on an otherwise low-key look, and really accentuates cheekbones,’ says make-up artist Lisa Valencia, who created these styles. ‘Finish with mascara, blush and a glossy lip.’

‘As your skin is the focus, prep it with a brightening primer, such as Estée Lauder Illuminating Perfecting Primer, £21.50/2,150 points (30ml) – it keeps glitter in place, too. Garnier BB Cream Original in Light, £9.99/999 points (50ml), covers flaws and leaves a sheer finish.’

‘Sprinkle a tiny amount of silver glitter, such as Barry M Fine Glitter Dust in Silver, £4.59/459 points, onto a foundation brush and pat this over the top of cheekbones, following in a crescent shape that finishes at the temples.’

‘Layer a gold glitter, such as Barry M Fine Glitter Dust in Yellow Gold, £4.59/459 points, on top, then apply New Max Factor Bronzing Powder, £9.99/999 points, to the hollows of your cheeks.’

    Fairy-tale flicks

Summer 2017’s take on the black feline flick, a white eyeliner gives a lighter finish and is perfect for daytime. ‘This is easy, even for make-up novices,’ Lisa explains, ‘and updates your style in just one step.’

‘Apply a nude matte eyeshadow, such as Makeup Obsession Eyeshadow Base in E131 Mood Boots Exclusive £2/200 points, to your lids to help even out skin tone.’

‘Use a liquid formula, such as NYX White Liquid Liner Boots Exclusive £6/600 points, rather than a pencil. It’s easier to apply, as it won’t drag on your skin and will also leave a neater, graphic finish.’

‘To make the white really pop, add two or three coats of black mascara – try New La Roche-Posay Respectissime Mascara Volume, £16/1,600 points – to both top and bottom lashes.’

‘Strong brows will help to balance the look, so fill in any gaps with Revlon Colorstay Brow Pencil in Soft Brown, £6.99/699 points, for extra definition.’

    Glitter lips

The breakout trend of SS17? Lips dusted with glitter. ‘This is surprisingly wearable, and great for festivals and weddings,’ says Lisa. ‘Keep the rest of your make-up simple – just add blusher and a sweep of mascara.’

‘First, slick on a moisturising lippy, such as No7 Match Made Moisture Drench Lipstick in Berry Bust Boots Exclusive £9.95/995 points – this warm pink will make lips stand out. Then apply NYX Glitter Primer Boots Exclusive £8/800 points (10ml), a light, creamy formula that sets and helps the shimmer stick to your lips.’

‘Choose a pink glitter, such as Barry M Fine Glitter Dust in Crimson Pink, £4.59/459 points, rather than white or silver – you don’t want to look like you’ve just eaten a sugar-coated doughnut!’

‘Apply the glitter with your finger or a wide lip brush – try the blur brush in Real Techniques Lip Color + Blur, £10.99/ 1,099 points. Focus it on the centre of your lips, then gently fan outwards.’
