    The look:

Add drama with a shimmering, bold eye flick. ‘This style suits anyone – you really don’t have to be a supermodel to pull it off,’ assures make-up artist Lisa Valencia, who created these looks. ‘But you’ll need to spend around 10 minutes getting it right – there’s no room for mistakes with such a statement look.’

    How-to:

‘To make eyes stand out, start with a black kohl on the waterlines, ensuring you take the lines right up to the inner and outer corners of your eyes. Cover lids with Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Molten Midnight, £23/2,300 points. Then, with a steady hand, draw the outline of each flick with a fine brush, such as Estée Lauder Eyeliner/Brow Brush, £19/1,900 points, dipped in Makeup Obsession Eyeshadow E126 in Midnight Black Boots Exclusive £2/200 points. If you need help to keep the lines straight, use the edge of a credit card to guide you. Point the flicks upwards, towards your temples, finishing just past the outer edges of your brows, then fill in any gaps with the black eyeshadow. Finish with two coats of black mascara on top and bottom lashes.’

    Finishing touch:

‘For a softer effect, gently wipe a clean cotton bud along the top edges of the eyeshadow on your socket lines and out towards the wings. Slightly blurred edges will tone down the boldness of the finished look.’

    The look:

This is an after-dark saviour. ‘Smudged shadow on lower lashlines with a shot of gold glitter on lids is easy, even for make-up novices,’ says Lisa. ‘You just need the confidence to try it.’

    How-to:

‘Apply a nude matte shadow, such as Clarins Ombre Matte Cream Eyeshadow in 01 Nude Beige, £19/1,900 points, to lids to even out skin tone and prime for the glitter. With a small eyeliner brush, such as NYX Professional Makeup Pro Brush 11 Angled Eyeliner Boots Exclusive £9/900 points, smudge a matte shadow – try No7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow in Carbon Matte Boots Exclusive £7/700 points – under lower lashes. Tap away any excess product, then use the brush to press on Barry M Dazzle Dust Eye Shadow in Gold Iridescent, £4.59/459 points, along upper lashlines. To make eye whites pop, use Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Pencil in Black (see in store or online for details) on upper and lower waterlines.’

    Finishing touch:

‘Add a sweep of L’Oréal Paris Miss Baby Roll Mascara in Black, £7.99/799 points, to bottom lashes. This opens up eyes and gives the lower lashlines extra definition – a big Fashion Week trend.’

    The look:

Stretching and blending colour over the whole eye area might seem daunting, but it looks stunning.‘This is one of the more complicated styles,’ admits Lisa, ‘but it’s easy once you know where to apply the shadow. When you’ve mastered it, you can try the same technique with other shades.’

    How-to:

‘To define eyes, use kohl on upper and lower waterlines. Then cover lids with a sparkly gold shadow, such as Meet In Madrid from the Vintage Romance Sleek Makeup i-Divine Palette, £8.99/899 points – this will help to emphasise the purple shade. With a medium-sized eyeshadow brush – I like Seventeen Eyeshadow Brush Boots Exclusive £1.99/199 points – trace a purple shadow, such as the Honeymoon In Hollywood shade from the same palette, along  socket lines. Start at the inner corners, move along the sockets to the outer corners, then sweep under lower lashlines. Fill in gaps – don’t be afraid to layer on more. Finish with two coats of black mascara on top and bottom lashes.’

    Finishing touch:

‘To really open up your eyes, add individual false lashes to the top sets, starting from the middle and stretching to the outer corners. Try Eylure Pro-Lash Individuals, £5.99/599 points.’

The look: A feline flick is the ultimate end-of-day revamp, but why not shake it up for summer and use a green liquid liner instead? ‘It’s a great shade for everyone,’ explains Lisa Valencia. ‘It’s softer than black, and works brilliantly for hot beach-to-bar nights.’

How-to: ‘Cover eyelids with a wash of metallic green, such as Max Factor Masterpiece Colour Precision Eyeshadow in Golden Green, £6.99/699 points. Then draw each flick with Benefit They’re Real! Push-Up Liner in Green, £20/2,000 points, starting at the inner corners, going along the lashlines and winging out and up, pointing to the ends of your brows. Trace eyeshadow on top to soften the lines.’

    Finishing touch:

‘Curl lashes to mimic the flicks of liner and add two coats of volumising mascara, such as New Diorshow Pump’N’Volume Mascara, £25.50/2,550 points, to top lashes only – any on the bottom will take away from the elongated “cat’s eye” effect.’
