Rock this season’s hottest hue with top tips from celebrity make-up artist Daniel Sandler
‘Using pink on lips, cheeks and eyes gives a pulled-together look that enhances youthful skin,’ says Daniel. ‘Twenty-something complexions don’t need much coverage, so just dab concealer on any blemishes and dark shadows, then work a cream blusher into cheeks,’ he adds. ‘To make cheekbones pop, blend a highlighter across them with your ring finger for a strobed effect. Then use an eyeshadow brush to wash a pale pink shadow over lids and below lower lash lines. Black mascara and a sheer lip tint, and you’re done!’

‘This glossy eye looks striking against matte skin, so use a stippling brush to apply a cream-to-powder foundation. The cream texture will hydrate while creating a forgiving, demi-matte finish that won’t highlight wrinkles,’ says Daniel. ‘If you’re worried about fine lines around your eyes, avoid powder eyeshadows, as they can settle into creases. Opt for soft, creamy textures that move with the skin,’ he adds. ‘My top trick is to actually use a glossy lip stain [Revlon do a great one – see below] all over your eyelids – it’s formulated to last on lips for hours, so has incredible staying power. Next, apply a coat of very dark brown mascara and use a brow gel to brush eyebrows into place. A peachy blusher on cheek apples will give a subtle glow, then finish with a slick of lip balm.’

‘Don’t let thinning lips put you off wearing a lighter pink lipstick – it’s actually an instant youth-booster. This shade not only catches the light, making lips appear plumper, but it also mimics the natural colour of our lips when we’re younger,’ says Daniel. ‘To get the look, start with a lip primer to hydrate, soften fine lines and give lipstick something to adhere to, which helps prevent colour bleed. Next, line lips with a pencil that matches your lippy to define your pout, then apply colour with a lip brush. Too much make-up can be heavy and look ageing, so opt for a CC cream rather than foundation as your base, then simply circle on a cream blusher. Finally, apply two coats of volumising black mascara for a modern finish.’
